Step 3 - When measuring a retractable door, it's crucial to consider the following factors to ensure a proper fit and smooth operation: ·
- Any obstacles such as door handles that might get in the way. ·
- Any pet doors that protrude past the door frame. ·
- Where you are going to mount it on the bottom, top and sides. ·
- Will it be installed inside the frame (Recess / Reveal Fit) or outside (Face Fit)
Step 4 - Measure the Width at the top, middle and bottom.
Step 5 - Measure the Height at the Left side, Middle and Right from top to bottom.

Preparation Checklist
Use a metal retractable type tape measure, fabric tapes stretch and lead to inaccuracies.
Quick Pro-Tip: If you are unsure about the depth, hold a matchbox or a small block of wood (35mm deep) against the frame. If the window or door closes without hitting it, you have enough room for a Recess Fit.
Record your measurements in millimeters, this is the industry standard for flyscreens.
Finally Check for Obstructions
Before you finalize, look for:
- Window Handles: Do they protrude? If they stick out past the frame, the mesh will hit them when it closes.
- Winder Mechanisms: If you have an awning window, ensure the winder won't block the bottom track.
- Alarms/Sensors: Ensure no security sensors are in the path of the tracks.
